2023: Gov Akeredolu Says Obi Or Tinubu Good As President

2023: Gov Akeredolu Says Obi Or Tinubu Good As President

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has said that it is alright if Peter Obi of the Labour party or Bola Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress wins the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Channels Television program, Politics Today, he maintained that for fairness, the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari should come from the South.

“If you listen to my lecture, I said if Obi is elected, that would be alright; if Bola Tinubu is elected, that would be alright. For me, it must come to the south.

“Since 1999, there is an understanding that we move from north to south, rotate the presidency, and that if today, we have people who want to deploy what I will call manipulation of our people on religious basis to think you can change it, then we should not accept it,” he said.

Regarding the Muslim-muslim presidential ticket of the ruling APC, Akeredolu was asked if he would have backed it in an opposition party.

He maintained that he will, adding that competence is what matters in politics.

“When you talk about religion, I am saying religion should have no part to play. Competence, knowledge, and your track record should come to play in this instance,” he responded.

MASSOB Calls Delta Gov ‘Emergency Igbo Man’

MASSOB Calls Delta Gov ‘Emergency Igbo Man’

The leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Comrade Uchenna Madu, Thursday, said the claim by Gov Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State to be of the Igbo extraction is politically motivated.

Uchenna in a statement said, “Because of his nomination as Atiku’s running mate, he now feels that he is representing the position of Ndigbo.

“MASSOB wish to remind Governor Okowa that Ndigbo are wiser now. Okowa is not representing Ndigbo. The political stake of Ndigbo is no longer in PDP.

“Governor Okowa cannot accept what he openly denied. Ndigbo are not fools.

“Gov Ifeanyi Okowa in his subjection to the Fulani-dominated federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has massacred hundreds of non-violent pro-Biafra agitators and other innocent youths of Delta State in Asaba, Ogwasi Ukwu, Agbor, Kwale, Umunede, Warri, all in his state.

“The blood of innocent youths shed on the streets and villages of Delta State will avenge.”

Recall that Ohanaeze Ndigbo earlier described Okowa as ‘an illustrious Igbo son’. Ohanaeze stated this when it congratulated him on his emergence as the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

It was gathered that Gov Okowa is a registered member of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

Obi Replies Tinubu: Call Your Supporters Not To Attack Me If You Wanted Issue-Based Campaign

Obi Replies Tinubu: Call Your Supporters Not To Attack Me If You Wanted Issue-Based Campaign

Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, has responded to the call for an issue-based campaign by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart.

Tinubu’s campaign organization had on Wednesday asked Obi to caution his supporters against spreading lies and denigrating its candidates.

Bayo Onanuga, the director of media and communications of the campaign, urged Obi and other presidential aspirants to desist from mudslinging and focus their campaigns on issues of good governance.

Onanuga, without providing evidence, accused Obi’s supporters of faking a letter attributed to Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, allegedly asking Tinubu to support Obi’s presidential bid and take care of his health.

“We have come to a point where it becomes imperative to tell Obi to show leadership. He should disavow his supporters who are employing fake news and disinformation as deliberate tools to deceive and poison the minds of unsuspecting Nigerians,” he had said.

But re-joining, Obi’s media adviser, Valentine Obienyem, said the Labour Party presidential candidate had always been an advocate for campaigns that are centered on important issues rather than name calling or trivial issues.

Obienyem, however, tackled the Tinubu campaign organisation over its attempt to attribute the fake Nana Akufo-Addo letter to Obi’s supporters,

According to him, it was wicked of the Tinubu campaign organization to link Obi’s supporters or group to the letter without providing evidence.

He also noted that if Tinubu was interested in issues-based campaigns as canvassed by his team, his supporters would not have taken to newspapers to publish opinion articles aimed at tarnishing Obi’s image.

Apparently referring to an opinion article titled ‘Obi-tuary’, where the writer, Sam Omatseye, who is an associate of Tinubu deeply criticized Obi, Obienyem said such articles with “offensive titles” do not suggest that the APC presidential candidate has an interest in campaigning on issues.

Obienyem also described Omatseye’s attempt to link Obi’s campaign to IPOB as the height of mischief.

“We know that things are not well in Nigeria. We know of the agitations in different parts of the country, our principal has always said what he would do with such organizations to stop their agitation and bring them back to Nigeria as one happy family. Rather than others say what they will do, they are here creating more problems by trying vainly and wickedly to link their fellow contestants to some of those organizations,” he added.

INEC Denies Recognised Akpabio, Lawan As Senatorial Candidates

INEC Denies Recognised Akpabio, Lawan As Senatorial Candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission has denied recognising Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senate President Ahmad Lawan as candidates of the All Progressives Congress.

Both Lawan and Akpabio had contested the APC Presidential primaries.

However, after losing, both of them were listed as senatorial candidates by the APC, but INEC refused to recognise them.

On Tuesday, there were reports that the two had finally been recognised by the commission.

Responding in a statement titled, ‘Spurious Allegations in Respect of Nomination of Candidates in Some Senatorial Districts’, the commission said it had not recognised them.

In the statement signed by INEC National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, the commission said the matter was still in court and it would maintain the status quo.

“For the record, the commission has not recognised any of the two personalities as a senatorial candidate.

“We call for responsible reportage as against the unwarranted attack on the commission and its officials over a matter than can be easily fact-checked,” the statement read.

The commission said a certified true copy of Form 9C was uploaded by the APC and received by the Commission on  June 17, 2022 when the nomination portal closed was presented.

It explained that the Form EC9 submission of names of candidates by political parties is the form uploaded by parties on the INEC nomination portal.

“The forms of the two personalities in question were not published by the commission. The decision of the commission triggered legal actions which are still ongoing. It therefore defies logic and common sense to go around and submit doctored documents purportedly recognising the duo as candidates when the matter is clearly sub-judice,” it said.

Wike’s Romance With Tinubu’s Men Rattles Amaechi’s Base

Wike’s Romance With Tinubu’s Men Rattles Amaechi’s Base

There are strong indications that the Rivers State All Progressives Congress led by immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is angry about the romance between the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu’s men; and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Wike has in recent times been meeting with some APC chieftains, including Tinubu’s allies. On Monday, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was invited by Wike to inaugurate a road project.

The Rivers governor also invited former Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila to inaugurate some projects in his state.

Earlier, some APC governors led by the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Kayode Fayemi, had also met Wike in his state amid his feud with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

However, sources close to Amaechi, told The PUNCH that the romance between Wike and Tinubu was disrespectful especially since it was public knowledge that Wike and Amaechi were political foes.

They also accused Tinubu of supporting Senator Magnus Abe who recently dumped the APC to run for governor on the platform of the Social Democratic Party.

An associate of Amaechi who wished to remain anonymous because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, said, “The APC leaders have been coming to Rivers State to lobby Wike and make all manner of promises to him. These people never came to Rivers even when the party was having a crisis.

“They should not forget that Amaechi came second in that presidential primary and is still the leader of the APC in Rivers State. Rather than rally around him, they have been romancing Wike. Tinubu is among the sponsors of Magnus Abe who has defected to the SDP.

“Magnus Abe is Tinubu’s boy. He is always with Tinubu. Even after joining the SDP, he is still with Tinubu and has promised to work for Tinubu’s campaign. Yet they cannot caution him.”

The source stated that Atiku might begin to woo Amaechi soon if quick action was not taken.

Speaking with The PUNCH,  an APC chieftain, Chukwuemeka Eze, said he was not aware if Atiku had begun reaching out to Amaechi.

Eze, however, said if Amaechi decides to join the PDP, then Tinubu should be blamed.

He added, “If Amaechi decides to rejoin PDP, it may not be of his own making but due to the acts and attitude of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and managers of his campaign team coupled with the new style of leadership of those currently running APC.

Amaechi’s neglect

“Let me state unequivocally that the manner and ways Amaechi and his political Team are being neglected both in the formation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and most of the activities of the party since after the APC Presidential Convention is not the best way to treat a leader with the stature or status of Amaechi. You don’t do that.

“To worsen the situation, the manner in which Tinubu and his associates continued to associate with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State without any consultation with Amaechi or any member of his political family is not only sad but very unfortunate.”

Eze said Amaechi remained an institution in Rivers State politics and that anybody or political leader who feels he can undermine him is doing that at his or her own peril.

He recalled that Amaechi as the Director-General of the Presidential campaign that orchestrated President Goodluck Jonathan’s defeat in 2015.

“Based on his rating, I will not be shocked if Atiku Abubakar is wooing him based on the fact that the two leaders are not only very close associates politically and but have remain great partners in the progress of this country so I have nothing against such a union,” he said.

When contacted, the Rivers State APC Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, told The PUNCH that Wike was desperate for an alliance with Tinubu and the APC to remain relevant after 2023.

Commenting on the romance between Tinubu’s men and Wike, he stated, “In politics, the concentric circles of conspiracy are numerous. Sometimes they overlap and other times they are incongruent. But very often, the end result is one – how to appropriate political power at the expense of others or competitors. Therefore, in the instant case, whether it is Asuwaju that is going after Governor Wike or the latter that is courting Asuwaju, the end result is how to survive 2023 general elections and remain politically relevant thereafter.

We know that the desperate party or side in the entire calculation is Wike. Reason is that head or tail with Atiku, he’ll lose. Assuming without conceding that Atiku wins, he’ll surely put away Wike in a cold manner. Wike understands this. In a scenario where Asuwaju/APC wins, Wike deserves the grace of God to walk free. He needs the protection post 2023 so badly. Therefore, it is clear that Wike is the one chasing after Asiwaju/APC and not the opposite.

Whether asked if the romance was a slap on Amaechi, he stated,  “I have a biblical verse as an answer. ‘Thou sayest!’

Also in a chat with The PUNCH, the Deputy spokesman of the APC in the Rivers State, Darlington Uwauju, said Amaechi was one of the few political leaders that could be trusted and that he would not leave the APC for the PDP.

The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the APC, Cornelius Ojelabi, said anyone was free to visit Wike as he was not Tinubu’s enemy.

On Tinubu’s alleged link to Magnus Abe’s defection, he said,  “I don’t know anything about that. All I know is that politics is a game of numbers. When you are in a contest, you just have to approach all that is approachable and solicit support.”

On whether he sees the possibility of Wike forming an alliance or crossing over to the APC, Ojelabi responded, “It is all about passion and you know Wike has a passion for politics. Wike was part of the southern governors who came to Lagos State before now and said that the Southern governors won’t support any presidential candidate from the North.”

We’ll Vote Against Those Who Ignore Rivers – Wike

We’ll Vote Against Those Who Ignore Rivers – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that anybody who despises the political capability of the state will be treated accordingly.

Wike stated this on Monday at the inauguration of the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterlines junction) Flyover by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in Port Harcourt.

Wike explained that the dynamics of contemporary politics had made it unpopular to just gift votes away without the assurance of derivable benefit for the people.

“If you say Rivers State does not matter, Rivers State will tell you that you don’t also matter at the appropriate time. If you don’t like us, we will not like you. If you like us, we will like you.

“Nobody will use our votes for nothing. Our votes will matter and Rivers State must benefit from anybody that we are going to support.

“Politics now is no longer just vote for somebody, it is about what you will do for the people of Rivers State.”

The governor said it would be difficult for any conspirators to upset the voting pattern of the state and support for the Peoples Democratic Party.

Reno Omokri Advises Nigerians To Vote Atiku, Insist Obi Will Be Impeached

Reno Omokri Advises Nigerians To Vote Atiku, Insist Obi Will Be Impeached

Former aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri has advised Nigerians to vote for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, in the forthcoming presidential election.

Reno disclosed this in a statement on his facebook handle. He alleged that the candidate of Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, would be impeached if he eventually wins the election.

He noted that Obi would not last if he does not have senators from his party in the senate.

Reno who is the number one best-selling author, equally said that Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed were products of PDP and were Atikulating in 2019. He expressed optimism that the duo would return back to PDP.

His words: “Both Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed are PDP products. Both of them were Atikulating in 2019. PDP is their natural home. They are just on sabbatical. After sowing their wild oats in Labour, they shall return, and we will welcome them. Even if you are Obidiently Yusful, still be Atikulate and vote Atiku!

“We love Obidients in PDP. You are like our grandchildren. We gave birth to Peter Obi and Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, and they gave birth to you. A stream cannot deny its source. You guys are the stream, and we are the river that feeds you.

“In fact, Obidients should vote for Atiku, because even if they vote for Peter Obi and he becomes President, which is very unlikely to happen, he won’t last on that seat without having Senators in the Senate. He could be impeached within days of being sworn in.”

Why I Left APC – Buhari’s Nephew

Why I Left APC – Buhari’s Nephew

Honorable Fatuhu Muhammed, a nephew to President Muhammadu Buhari, says he dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) because his rival abused his father.

It was gathered that Muhammed, son of Buhari’s elder brother, exited the ruling party.

The lawmaker, who represents Daura/Mai’Adua/Sandamu Federal Constituency of Katsina State in the National Assembly, failed to secure his re-election ticket after polling 30 votes, while Aminu Jamo, his rival secured 117 votes.

Since the primaries, there have been clashes between the camps of Fatuhu and Jamo.

Speaking with one of our correspondents last night, Muhammed said he left APC because his rival abused his father.

“I received an audio recording where their candidate (Jamo) called my father, Alhaji Mamman Dan Baffalo, by name and abused him. Alhaji Mamman Dan Baffallo and President Buhari are of the same father and mother.”

“Out of the 26 children born by their father, they are the only males that are from the same father and mother. So, abusing my father is abusing the president.

“So, I said since the issue has gone beyond politics to denigrating the dignity of my parents, I cannot take it any longer, and it is not binding on me to stay in the party, so I decided to leave,” he said.

Islamic Group Gives Gov Makinde Quit Notice Over Return Of Schools To Missionaries

Islamic Group Gives Gov Makinde Quit Notice Over Return Of Schools To Missionaries

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) on Friday gave the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, notice to quit the government house by 2023.

The quit notice was given over the governor’s plan to return schools to missionaries which was announced yesterday.

The quit notice was contained in a press statement issued by the director of MURIC.

The statement read, “Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State yesterday announced his plan to return public schools to missionaries. We receive this announcement with a pinch of salt. It is a blow below the belt. It is arbitrary, a betrayal of trust, and a most provocative move. Coming at a time Muslim liberation struggle is at its peak, the move is most unwise, audacious, and insensitive. It had better not be. Makinde should perish the thought.

“The governor is acting the script written by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). It will fail. Those schools are our common patrimony. He cannot give them out just like that after the government has spent billions of Oyo State taxpayers’ money on adding more, renovating, purchasing equipment and maintaining the infrastructure, paying teachers’ salaries, etc for more than 50 years.

“The idea is to perpetuate the suppression of Muslim children in public schools by claiming that the schools belong to missionaries. These are neo-imperialists seeking all means to remain relevant, powerful, and dominant.

“Yet the so-called missionary schools were built on land belonging to our Muslim forefathers who were deceived by the Christian colonialists into giving out the land ‘gratis’ in most cases. Apart from the land which was given free, our Muslim forefathers also paid tax into the coffers of the colonialists to build the schools. Nobody should try to pull the wool over our eyes. The difference between the colonial government and the missionaries is like six and half dozen. Peter was robbed to pay Paul. The colonialists collected our hard-earned money and gave the missionaries.

“It was the mother of all treacheries when the colonialists gave the schools missionary names after completing the buildings. Not only that, they turned round to bite the finger that fed them by rejecting Muslim children who refused to change their names to Christian nomenclatures. Majority of the Muslims had to succumb. Thus Abdul Rasheed became Richard, Yusuf became Joseph, Ishaq became Isaac and Maryam became Mary.

“Anybody who observes the trajectory of Makinde’s administration will know that he came with the sole agenda of subjugating Muslims in Oyo State to the whims and caprices of CAN. But the Muslims of Oyo State will resist this with every legitimate means at their disposal.

“There must be consequences for irresponsible and reckless leadership. There will be peaceful rallies and protests until Makinde rescinds his decision. The Muslim youths in the state have taken Makinde’s plan to return schools to missionaries as a confrontation. Already, the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) has fired the first salvo. Makinde has miscalculated. He assumes that his very few contract-seeking Muslim business partners control the Muslim community of Oyo State. He will soon know the truth.

“Makinde is in the habit of snatching from the Muslims what belongs to them. Yet he wants Muslims in the state to continue to cooperate with his administration. He lives in self-delusion with his divide et impera as he hoodwinks an infinitesimal minority of Muslim dealers and ignores the real Muslim leaders. With this ill-advised announcement, he has betrayed those few stomach-infrastructure Muslim dealers who always claimed they needed to be near the governor.

“Makinde will soon know his fate. Muslims will teach him an electoral lesson. We expect Oyo governors to take a cue from what happened to Bola Ige in 1983. Nobody plays with Muslim interest in Oyo State and gets away with it.

“Makinde started by toying with the Hijrah holiday which his Muslim predecessor (ex-governor Ajimobi) gave us. He also refused to issue any circular on hijab to date. He marooned his Muslim deputy governor for three good years until the latter was eventually impeached and replaced with a Muslim-by-name deputy. Seyi Makinde’s anti-Muslim agenda cannot stomach the idea of a genuine Muslim deputy governor.

“We hereby give the ‘Eleyi of Agodi’ notice to quit Agodi Government House come 29th May, 2023. The Muslim dealers masquerading as Muslim leaders and romancing with our traducers for contracts will not be able to save him. Makinde’s days in the government house are numbered. He has murdered sleep. From this day to 29th May, 2023, Makinde shall sleep no more. We advise him to start loading his backpack with his most essential commodities from today.

“MURIC calls on Muslims in Oyo State to possess their possessions. We shall all face Allah Yawm al-Qiyamah to report what we did for Islam and the Muslims. How did we meet the Ummah of Muhammad (SAW) and how did we leave it? It is time for Oyo Muslims to decide whether they want freedom or slavery. Those who do not respect and preserve our spiritual heritage must not be allowed to rule us. Makinde must not be allowed to stay in Agodi Government House a day beyond 29th May, 2023.”

2023: Don’t Expect To Win North West, APC Tells Opposition Parties

2023: Don’t Expect To Win North West, APC Tells Opposition Parties

The Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-West zone,  Salihu Lukman, has asked opposition parties not to expect victory during the 2023 elections

Lukman said this in in Kaduna at an interactive session with newsmen shortly after a meeting with APC Chairmen in North West zone.

According to him, the ruling party is working tirelessly to ensure victory in the next election because the zone belongs to APC.

Lukman said that the reconciliatory drive with aggrieved party members is recording positive results, but needs to be pushed harder before the commencement of the campaign.

“We have been working tirelessly to ensure victory for our party in the next election. No party should expect to win the 2023 election from the North West zone just because they feel they can win,” he said.

He explained that to achieve victory for his party, there are efforts towards building a stronger relationship with the leadership of each state.

According to him, each of the states within the zones had set up the reconciliation committees, adding that as leaders in the zone they have visited all the states and will return to push to ensure that all aggrieved members are reconciled.

“Each state set up a committee to reconcile its members and resolve the crisis. Progress have being made in all these states. One of the decisions we took is to revisit the state to push for reconciliation. We will conclude reconciliation before the commencement of the campaign,” he said.

He said the zone had also reviewed the report from the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) with regards to the closure of voter registration.

He explained that the party agreed for the Committees to equally mobilize people who have registered to pick up their permanent voter’s cards (PVCs).

Osun 2022: Oyetola, APC Head To Election Tribunal

Osun 2022: Oyetola, APC Head To Election Tribunal

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said it has concluded arrangements to challenge the results of the state’s July 16 governorship election at the election petition tribunal.

APC chairman in the state, Gboyega Famodun disclosed this at a press conference held at the party secretariat in Osogbo, yesterday.

Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC.

Famodun said the counsels to the party and that of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola have told them that “We have a strong case and we believe we will win at the court.”

Meanwhile, the Osun State Chapter of PDP described APC’s move as “a wasteful voyage and an exercise in futility.”

A statement by the PDP Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr Akindele Adekunle, said APC’s decision to approach the tribunal was “anti-people and a challenge of God’s will”.

“PDP is not afraid of any election petition as the Legal Team of the PDP are always ready to defend whatever petition the APC is bringing, reiterating that the petition would be dead on arrival anytime it comes,” it said.

2023: Aregbelosa, Osun State Governor Now Working Against Tinubu – APC

2023: Aregbelosa, Osun State Governor Now Working Against Tinubu – APC

The youth wing of All Progressives Congress in Osun State has blamed the Interior Minister, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola of working against the presidential ambition of the APC candidate, Bola Tinubu in the State.

APC Youth Leader, Goke Akinwemimo, who tended to newsmen in Osogbo, the State capital on Wednesday, alerted the national leader of the ruling party that the Minister is no longer with the APC.

Akinwemimo, however, expressed optimism that the Minister and his supporters won’t succeed in that frame of mind to bring doom to the party in the forthcoming general elections.

He said, “We are saying these to alert the national leadership of our dear party that Aregbesola and his allies are no more with APC.

“Apart from the fact that their previous actions have shown that they are working for the opposition, they are equally determined to ensure that we lose other future elections, including the presidential election.

“They are out to spell doom for our party. But we are prepared to resist them and they will not succeed”.

Report has it that Aregbesola, who recently had a face-off with the former Lagos State Governor, had likewise been fingered in the failure of the party to win the July governorship election.

2023: Buhari Under Pressure To Handover To Shettima – Primate Ayodele

2023: Buhari Under Pressure To Handover To Shettima – Primate Ayodele

The Leader Of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has made a shocking revelation concerning the 2023 presidential election.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele revealed that President Buhari is under pressure to hand over to Kashim Shettima by the northern elders and that the presidential candidate of the ruling party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu isn’t in the agenda.

He revealed that the northern elders want to ensure a Kanuri man becomes the next president of Nigeria not a Fulani person and that’s why they planted Kashim Shettima in the ticket.

Primate Ayodele however warned President Buhari not to meddle into the affairs of whoever succeeds him and that he should shut down the plans of the northern elders because it will lead Nigeria to serious bloodbath, serious protest and anarchy.

‘’President Buhari is under pressure not to hand over to Atiku, Peter Obi and Tinubu. Shettima is a game plan of the northerners, not Tinubu and every avenue to install Shettima will cause serious bloodbath in Nigeria and serious protest and anarchy.’’

‘’The president is under pressure to hand over to a Kanuri man, the northern elders don’t want Fulani, they want Kanuri and that’s why they planted Kashim Shettima. They want to ensure APC wins the election and if that happens, Nigeria will sink.’’

‘’This is the plan but I want to warn President Buhari not to involve himself in such, he should not interfere in who succeeds him in 2023 and allow election to be free and fair.’’

Lagos PDP Accuses APC Of Destroying Jandor’s Billboards

Lagos PDP Accuses APC Of Destroying Jandor’s Billboards

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has blasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the destruction of the billboards of its governorship candidate, Mr Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.

The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Hakeem Amode, described the development as an act of intimidation and a sign that the APC was jittery of its impending defeat in the 2023 elections.

The party also urged the youths allegedly being used as hoodlums to destroy the party’s billboards to have a rethink.

But the APC spokesman in the state, Mr Seye Oladejo, described PDP’s allegation as the “usual cheap propaganda from the stable of the opposition party.”

He also said it was “very untrue” that the government stopped outdoor advertisements belonging to the opposition.

He further said, “I guess they’re already preparing an alibi for their usual electoral woes.

“I will advise them to approach the regulatory agency and comply with the stringent rules guiding outdoor advertisement in the state rather than play unnecessarily to the gallery.”

PDP Crisis: Wike Lists Conditions For Ceasefire

PDP Crisis: Wike Lists Conditions For Ceasefire

Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it will on Wednesday meet with the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, vice presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

The BoT’s Chairman, Senator Walid Jibrin, in a statement yesterday, said the meeting was to resolve the crisis rocking the party over the nomination of Okowa as its vice presidential candidate.

Senator Jibrin said the BoT was worried that the emergence of Atiku and Okowa as the party’s presidential and vice presidential candidates was unnecessarily causing confusion among some PDP members.

He said, “The BoT is meeting on Wednesday, August 3, to address properly the issue by coming up with a strong committee to reconcile all aggrieved members, including Governor Wike.

“After the BoT meeting, we will meet with Atiku, Okowa and Wike to finally resolve the matter to make PDP stronger and very united and enable Atiku and Okowa win the election hands down.”

Wike had on Sunday met with PDP governors and other stakeholders who coordinated his campaign for the presidential ticket.

During the meeting, it was gathered that the Wike PDP camp demanded the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, as part of the conditions to work for Atiku.

Sources familiar with the meeting said the Rivers governor’s men were also demanding a written agreement from the presidential candidate on what would be accruing to them should the party win the 2023 elections.

Members of the camp had complained that the PDP had been hijacked by the North, saying the region produced its chairman, presidential candidate and BoT chairman.

A source said, “What they are saying is that Ayu has been compromised, he refused to be impartial, he worked solely for the emergence of Atiku Abubakar. That is why some people are saying he should step down for equity.

“The problem is that they are not sure that if Atiku wins, Ayu will agree to step down. So the Wike camp is said to be asking for a written agreement that Ayu will go and what they stand to benefit if the party wins the presidential election.”

Peter Obi Does Not Have The Capacity To Lead Nigeria – Governor Okowa

Peter Obi Does Not Have The Capacity To Lead Nigeria – Governor Okowa

Delta state governor and PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, has said that the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, is not good enough to lead Nigeria as he doesn’t have the requisite ‘experience’ to be a President.

Okowa shared this thought during an interview with BBC Pidgin. He said;

“I did not say he won’t have any votes, he will have. But what I’m saying is that he’s not a new candidate. It has not been long since he left PDP. You know he was in APGA before, from APGA he came to PDP. It hasn’t been long since he left (PDP) so he cannot say anything about PDP because that’s where he was before.

“Some of us are still here. At every party, there are good people and bad people. But today’s Nigeria is very troubled and we need the right person. That is why I am appealing to our youths to be wise and vote well, they should not be blinded by the concept of a false change because that is how they raved on Jonathan in 2015.

His (Obi) previous experience is not enough for this one (presidency), it will be hard. His experience is not deep enough. Even as a current governor ruling in a time of crisis, I know how hard it is. I even want to learn under Atiku because he has experience with the federal government.

The thing is not easy. For them to have handled the economy at that time and made it something better, offering hope, creating jobs, and filtering the society, was not easy because it’s a bigger thing. So someone is supposed to learn through that. If you look at Obi’s experience you’ll know it’s small.”he said

North-West APC Calls For Extension Of Voters Registration

North-West APC Calls For Extension Of Voters Registration

The leadership of the North-West zone of the All Progressives Congress has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to extend voters’ registration to allow additional eligible voters acquire their Permanent Voter Cards.

The Zonal Publicity Secretary of the party, Musa Mada, made the call during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Kaduna.

The Northwest zone comprises Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states.

Mada said the call for the extension had become necessary following mass rush by eligible voters to get registered ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“We are concerned about the number of people trooping to INEC office on daily basis, most of whom are yet to be captured.

“It will only be fair if an extension of the closing date be considered so that additional eligible voters will be registered,” Mada added.

He also urged INEC to consider the possibility of creating additional registration centres, saying this would ease difficulty faced by the eligible voters.

“Thousands of eligible voters might be disenfranchised due to difficulties being faced to access registration centers.

“INEC should know that the whole exercise bothers on the people, as such, it will not be fair to disenfranchise them,” he said.

Buhari’s Ex-Minister Asks Court To Disqualify Tinubu, Atiku

Buhari’s Ex-Minister Asks Court To Disqualify Tinubu, Atiku

The immediate past Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and a group, Incorporated Trustees of Rights for All International, have filed an originating summons before a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking an order declaring Nwajiuba as the authentic Presidential candidate of the APC.

The plaintiffs are also praying for the cancellation of the votes garnered by the Presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu; and the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

The first to sixth defendants in the case with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/942/22 are: the APC, the PDP, Tinubu, Atiku, the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Nwajiuba, who purchased the APC presidential form for N100m, but polled only one vote at the June 8 primary, accused Tinubu of bribing delegates with dollars.

The plaintiffs also attached as evidence a video recording showing the immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, lamenting that delegates to the APC primary sold their votes.

“Those who voted at the APC primaries, who are they? They are ordinary Nigerians. The small money they got solved their immediate problem, now they are saying they made a mistake; you are now hearing different things,” Amaechi said at the 60th birthday celebration of Apostle Eugene Ogu, General Overseer of Abundant Life Evangel Mission, last week.

Based on the evidence, Nwajiuba and RAI presented 25 issues for determination by the court.

Specifically, the ex-minister asked the court to determine whether the composition of the delegates contravened Article 11(A) 12(1) and 13(1) of the constitution of the APC.

The ex-minister also asked the court to determine if the composition of the delegates at the PDP primary contravened Section 33(1) and (5) (c) of the constitution of the party.

The plaintiffs prayed the court to determine whether having regards to the clear unambiguous and express provisions and tenor of Sections 6(6) (A) (B) and (C) read alongside Section 15(5) of the 1999 Constitution, the court has the inherent judicial powers to nullify, cancel and declare as illegal the Presidential primaries of the APC and the PDP.

Nwajiuba asked the court to determine if all the votes cast in favour of Tinubu and Atiku at the special national convention of the APC and PDP are illegal, null and void and of no effect whatsoever on the grounds of corruption and selling of delegate votes and voter inducement.

Lastly, the ex-minister prayed the court to decide if having regards to the express provisions of paragraphs 1 and 8 of the 5th schedule of the 1999 Constitution, the corrupt conducts of the “third defendant (Tinubu) and the 4th defendant (Atiku) in buying votes and corruptly inducing delegates with dollars and naira in various sums to secure their votes at the special national convention… disqualifies them from further seeking, contesting and holding the office of the President.”

APC Muslim - Muslim Ungodly And Against Nigeria's Unity - Yakubu Dogara

APC Muslim - Muslim Ungodly And Against Nigeria's Unity - Yakubu Dogara

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has condemned the decision of presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to field a Muslim/Muslim ticket in 2023. The action threatens the unity of the country, he says.

Speaking at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)’s 12th General Assembly and Leadership Transition Ceremony, Mr Dogara declared that political permutations which do not reflect religious balance in the country are against the unity and stability of the country.

He commended CAN’s position on the matter, describing it has “Godly.”

“I want to say emphatically that CAN’s position on Muslim/Muslim ticket in this country, at this moment of national peril, is not CAN’s only position, I believe that is God’s position.

“We serve a God of justice, our God is righteous, our God is the author of diversity, and he wants as diverse as we are to come together. So, CAN’s position as much as it is a righteous position, it is the position of all of us who live righteousness, justice, diversity and are working to harness it for the advancement of this country,” he said.

Mr Dogara’s featured among a select list of northern Christian politicians that had been suggested to Mr Tinubu as his probable running mate. The presidential candidate however turned them down.

CAN leaders have said over the past month that the same faith ticket is an insult to the vast population of competent Christians in the North and across the country. It also added that the decision is insensitive and capable of setting the nation on fire.

“We are all aware that in the past weeks, the Nigerian mainstream media and the general public have been occupied with the discussions on the Muslim-Muslim ticket by the All Progressive Congress (APC), one of the political parties in the build-up to the 2023 general elections.

“We clearly want to emphasize that this is not healthy for the highly diversified Nigerian space, especially in the face of the growing and alarming insecurity in our nation at the moment. Any well meaning presidential candidate will focus the all inclusive Federal Character.

“Consequently, the Nigerian Christian youth are not unaware of division and tension currently overheating an heated polity in Nigeria and, therefore, will not support or encourage any action or decision capable of further dividing and setting this nation on fire.

“Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket insults the sensitivity of Nigerians and the Christian youths are saying a big NO!” Alfred Olushola, North Central president of the body had said.

Despite public discomfort and wide criticism of the same faith ticket of the APC, its flag bearer Mr Tinubu and other stalwarts have insisted that the party is making the right choice and other marginalized groups such as the northern Christians have nothing to fear.

Tinubu Appoints Oshiomhole, El-Rufai Chair, DG Presidential Campaign

Tinubu Appoints Oshiomhole, El-Rufai Chair, DG Presidential Campaign

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has appointed a former national chairman of the party and senatorial hopeful, Adams Oshiomhole, as chairman of his presidential campaign council.

At the same time, the former Lagos State governor, has also appointed the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, as the Director-General of the campaign council.

According to Western Post, a publication believed to be owned by one of Tinubu’s men, a source close to the leadership of the party, hinted at the development, which is yet to be made official.

The publication noted that, the recent visit of Oshiomhole, el-Rufai and the governors of Zamfara and Plateau States, Bello Matawalle and Simon Lalong, to Tinubu, was not unconnected to the appointments.

The decision, it was further gathered, was taken after consultations with President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently outside the country on official functions and the party leadership.

However, Tinubu, just like the case of his Muslim-Muslim preference for the presidential ticket, which has continued to create problems for the party, had since wanted Oshiomhole as campaign DG, but the idea was roundly rejected by the other members of the party, especially, the governors, who thought the former Edo State governor, was too disruptive a personality to lead the campaign.

Not surprisingly, the same way Tinubu jettisoned advice against a Muslim-Muslim ticket, sources said, he has also settled for his preference in who leads the campaign, even though he attempted to balance it with the choice of El-Rufai as the DG.

Apart from being considered disruptive, a committee earlier set up by the candidate to look into some of these issues, had advised against Oshiomhole, because he would be standing for election in 2023 and therefore, should be allowed to go and concentrate on his election.

Party sources told reporters that many members of the APC had quietly become frustrated with Tinubu’s constant refusal to yield to advice, coupled with the arrogance with which he always wanted his views to prevail over other suggestions and had decided to let him have his way, since he is the candidate of the party.
