The Ilaje Foremost Group has urged President Muhammadu Buhari in a letter to appoint an Ilaje man as NDDC Managing Director.

In a letter signed by Adehin ThankGod, Group highlighted the reason why President Muhammadu Buhari should appoint the true son of Ilaje as NNDC Managing Director.

Details of the letter

Relying heavily on the Provision of Section 12(1) of the Niger Delta Development Commission Act (NDDC Act) which states thus:

"There shall be for the commission, a managing director and two executive directors who shall be indigenes of oil-producing areas stating with the members of the commission with the highest production quantum of oil and shall rotate amongst member states in order of production".
The Ilaje Advancement Forum hereby craves the indulgence of Mr President to kindly appoint an Ilaje man as the Managing Director of the 5th Board of the NDDC.

The position of the MD of NDDC is not subject to lobbying and as such no group of person or individual other than the Ilaje people should be given such privilege as its evidently clear in the Act establishing the commission that the position shall be rotated among the 9 oil-producing state with Ondo State ranking next as enshrined in the Act.

The rotational appointments on the basis of states oil production capacity has been complied with since the creation of NDDC and we sincerely urge that the status quo be maintained and Ilaje be given due privilege as regards NDDC Managing Director.

Ilaje boast of credible and reliable sons and daughter who possess the Capacity,  Capability and the Technical know-how who are fit and proper to be appointed as the NDDC Managing Director.
Engr. Godwin Omene (Delta), Emmanuel Agwariavwodo (Delta), Timi Alaibe ( Bayelsa),
Chibuzor Ugwuocha (Rivers), Chris Oboh (Rivers), Bassey Dan-Abia ( Akwa-Ibom),  Nsima Ekere ( Akwa-Ibom) have all served as Managing Directors of NDDC from 2001 till date in compliance with the constitutional arrangement, we call on President Buhari to tow the same line and appoint and Ondo State citizen from the Ilaje extraction as the New MD.

We verily believe the President we uphold the rule of law and do the needful by appointing an Ilaje. We are law-abiding citizens of the country and we will not be forced to carry arms to demand what legitimately and constitutionally belong to us.
