UK Residents to Wear a RFID Microchip under their Skin from January 1 2021 - Boris Johnson

The United Kingdom has notified the residents of the plan to enforce wearing of RFID microchip with effect from 1st January 2021.

This was said in an open letter to the citizens by Boris Johnson, The UK Prime Minister dated 9th June, 2020.

Boris Johnson alerted the citizens of the new government policy, in which they are proposing that all UK residents be required to wear RFID microchip from 1st January, 2021.

The RFID microchips are small chips that would be injected under the skin.

He added that the UK residents will be able to get free implant at their local NHS surgery.

The Prime Minister said, “it is important that the government of UK does all it can to protect all its citizens.’

In the world faced with terrorism, crime and cyber fraud, the RFID microchip will enable the law enforcement agencies to track the movement of criminals and terrorists.

The RFID microchip will also carry a unique personal identification number, which once scanned, the law enforcement agencies will identify whether that person is a wanted criminal, an illegal immigrant or a terrorist sympathiser etc.

He therefore asked all UK citizens to write to their local parliament members (MP) to voice their opinions on the policy.

In as much as many will support the policy, others will have concerns. It is therefore important for the citizens to send their feedback before it would be signed into law. If eventually its signed into law, whoever fails to have the microchip implanted will be given a custodial sentence.
