Gúnmen Abduct Father Of FCT Abuja Council Chair, Six Others, Demand N30million Ransom

Gúnmen believed to be kidnappërs have shot deãd a man, Hussaini Kure, during an attack on Yewuti village in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

It was learnt that father of the Vice Chairman of the Area Council, Alhaji Mohammed Yakubu, a pregnant woman and five others were also abdûcted.

A resident told Daily Trust that around 12am, the gúnmen in their large numbers wielding AK-47 rifles invaded three houses, including the house of the father of the vice chairman, Suleiman Idris, and whisked him away alongside six other villagers.

“Unfortunately, one of the villagers, Hussaini Kure, who attempted to escape was shot deãd by the gúnmen,” he added.

Confirming the incident, the Etsu Yewuti, Mohammed Isyaku, noted that the community was terrified as a result of the gúnshots during the attáck.

Isyaku urged authorities of the council to come to the aid of his subjects through liaising with relevant security agents on how to rescue the abducted victims.

He said, “This is sad and worrisome. This is the third attack we are witnessing this year in our community. I am appealing to relevant security agencies to come to our aid to rescue the abducted victims, including a pregnant woman.”

However, a family member of one of the victims told journalists that negotiation was ongoing as the abductors demanded a N30million ransom.

The FCT Police Command, spokesperson, SP Adeh Josephine, promised to find out and get back.

Yewuti, the hometown of a former Vice Chairman of Kwali, Alhaji Zubairu Jibrin Yewuti, came under attack by kidnappers on April 22, 2023, and 29 villagers were abducted.
